Common Questions

Everything you need to know

How the math works, where your data lives, and what makes Visentor different from budgeting apps.

General

I already use Mint or YNAB. Why would I need this?

Mint and YNAB are built around budgeting and spending tracking. Visentor is built around one thing: figuring out exactly when you'll be debt-free and how to get there faster. It uses daily interest accrual to match what your bank actually charges, which most budgeting tools don't do. You can also use it without linking any accounts.

Does it work outside the US?

The math engine works for any currency and any standard APR-based credit card. The card catalog is focused on US-issued cards right now, but you can manually add any card from any country.

Cálculos

¿Qué tan precisa es la fecha de estar libre de deudas?

Interest is calculated daily (balance x APR / 365), the same formula your bank uses. Most calculators use a monthly shortcut that can push the estimated payoff date off by several weeks on a multi-year plan.

Can I compare Avalanche and Snowball side by side?

Every plan automatically shows total interest and payoff time for both strategies, plus a Hybrid recommendation. You can switch between them and see the numbers update instantly.

Seguridad

¿Dónde se guardan mis datos?

By default, everything stays in your browser's local database (IndexedDB). Nothing is sent anywhere. If you use Pro sync, your data is encrypted with a key only you control before it leaves your device.

Why don't you connect to my bank directly?

Connecting to your bank means handing your login credentials to a third party. For a debt payoff planner, manual entry or CSV import gets you accurate numbers without that tradeoff.
